Rev. Russell & Misty SwinneyRev. Russell Swinney’s family began attending Christ Gospel Church, Tyler, Texas, when he was a toddler. He was raised in church and his life was greatly influenced by his upbringing.
He joined the Marine Corps in 1979, where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1982. He became the assistant pastor of Christ Gospel Church, Tyler, Texas, in 1984 and stayed in that capacity until 1988. At that time, he was appointed pastor of Christ Gospel Church, Wichita Falls, Texas. While there, he served as pastor and elder, with a district that included churches in Tacoma, Washington; El Paso, Texas; Aurora, Colorado; Tyler, Texas and Lawton, Oklahoma, until 2001. Rev. Russell Swinney has been a member of Christ Gospel Church, Dallas, Texas, since 2003, and has served on the Board of Directors since 2007. He also served as the Sunday School teacher for the adult class for many years. Rev. Misty Swinney and her family began attending Christ Gospel Churches, Int’l Inc. in Jeffersonville, Indiana, when she was four years old. She grew up with a solid foundation and understanding of the Crucified Way and served in several capacities in the headquarters church. This included Nursery, Royal Regiments, Youth Department, and as an employee of the National Administration offices. She moved to Texas in 2003, and was the church secretary from 2006 until she and her husband became our pastors. She also served as an honorary member of the Board of Directors. Rev. Russell and Misty Swinney were appointed pastors of Christ Gospel Church, Dallas, Texas, on May 4, 2014. The Swinneys have five children: Amy, Andra, Russell, Jonny and Desiree; and eight grandchildren: Emma, Camden, Jack, Kylee, Brantley, Presley, Addy and Kinsley. |
